aly's first fever =(

aly had her 12 week well-care check up yesterday. she braved through three shots - her DTP, HBV, and Hib. the doctor was so quick about it - two on her left thigh, and one on her right. but aly started off in a not-so-good mood b/c she was a little hungry. so her face turned bright red from crying... broke mommy's heart. my mother said she didn't want to watch - she's such a softie. to comfort her immediately, i breastfed her right afterwards, and then she dozed off for three hours. she usually doesn't nap that long during the day, especially now that she sleeps through the night for ten hours straight! she started doing this exactly at the twelve week mark. daddy turned off the small lamp in her room, and that did the trick! great job dad! i read somewhere to have keep a small light on during the night in case the baby wakes in the dark and gets scared. but it looks like aly's brave and not scared of the dark... i guess she found the light annoying to sleep with.

anyway - she developed a mild fever of 100.4, which is a normal reaction to the DTP shot... so she wasn't in a very good mood last night. she lost her appetite, and she wouldn't let mommy sit down while holding her. so i gave her some tylenol, and that helped. even though she napped a very long time, she still managed to pack in 10.5 hours of straight sleep. PTL!!!

also at her check-up yesterday, she weighed in at 15lbs, 5oz!!! she quite the heavyweight for her age... over the 95th percentile. that means - she's heavier than over 95% of babies her age in the country. she's now also 24 and 1/4 inches... also above the 90th percentile. the doctor was very proud of us. she's growing fast for her age, not just physically, but developmentally. she does everything a four-month old should be doing... and she's just shy of three months!!! woo hoo!!!
